GTA 6 Pre-Orders Hit 5.66 Million Before Launch, Generating $553 Million

GTA 6 pre-orders reach 5.66 million and $553 million in estimated revenue

GTA 6 Pre-Orders Hit 5.66 Million Before Launch, Generating $553 Million

GTA 6 pre-orders have continued to climb ahead of Rockstar Games’ massive November launch, with new Sensor Tower tracking data estimating that 5.66 million copies have now been pre-ordered across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The same tracking data puts estimated pre-order revenue at around $553 million, giving GTA 6 another major milestone before the game has even officially launched.

However, there is one important detail GTA fans should know: these are third-party estimates, not official sales figures released by Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.

That makes the numbers worth watching, but they should not be treated as confirmed financial results.

GTA 6 has gone from $421 million to $553 million

Back in August, GTA 6 was already making headlines after Sensor Tower estimates suggested that the game had generated around $421 million from 4.30 million pre-orders.

At that point, the estimated sales split was around 77% PlayStation 5 and 23% Xbox Series X|S.

The latest data now shows a considerably larger number.

Sensor Tower’s updated tracker indicates that GTA 6 has reached approximately 5.66 million pre-orders, with estimated revenue climbing to $553 million, net of returns.

That means the tracker is now showing roughly 1.36 million more pre-orders than the earlier 4.30 million estimate.

The estimated revenue has also increased by approximately $132 million.

Latest GTA 6 pre-order numbers

The latest figures supplied by Sensor Tower’s GTA VI sales tracker show:

The numbers cover the PlayStation and Xbox versions being tracked by Sensor Tower.

Rockstar has not publicly confirmed that GTA 6 has sold 5.66 million pre-orders, so the figures should be described as estimated pre-order sales.

PlayStation continues to lead Xbox

The platform split is another interesting part of the latest data.

According to Sensor Tower’s tracker, PlayStation accounts for 77% of GTA 6 pre-orders, while Xbox represents the remaining 23%.

That means PlayStation is responsible for more than three-quarters of the tracked pre-order activity.

Earlier Sensor Tower-derived figures showed a very similar split, suggesting that the balance between the two platforms has remained relatively consistent as the overall number of pre-orders has increased.

The latest figures therefore don’t just show GTA 6 selling more copies — they also show the same broad platform pattern continuing.

GTA 6’s $553 million is not official Rockstar revenue

This is probably the most important part of the story.

The $553 million figure is an estimate from Sensor Tower, rather than a financial figure reported by Take-Two.

That distinction matters.

Take-Two and Rockstar have discussed the strength of GTA 6 pre-orders publicly, but the company has not released a specific official pre-order unit figure matching the Sensor Tower estimate.

Sensor Tower itself operates a game sales-tracking service designed to provide estimates across platforms and storefronts. Its own GTA VI tracker has been monitoring pre-order activity since the game’s pre-orders opened.

So while $553 million is an eye-catching number, it should be treated as estimated revenue rather than confirmed Rockstar revenue.

GTA 6 pre-orders opened in June

Rockstar opened GTA 6 pre-orders on June 25, 2026, ahead of the game’s November release.

The Standard Edition is priced at $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99 in the US. Rockstar’s official announcement confirmed both editions and the November 19 release date.

The Ultimate Edition includes additional premium content connected to Jason and Lucia’s story, while pre-orders also come with the Vintage Vice City Pack and other bonuses.

That premium pricing is also important when looking at the revenue estimate.

GTA 6 isn’t simply generating money from millions of $80 Standard Edition purchases. Previous Sensor Tower-derived reporting suggested that a very large proportion of early buyers were choosing the $99.99 Ultimate Edition.

The numbers could continue climbing before November

GTA 6 still has a significant amount of time before its November 19 launch.

That means the current 5.66 million estimate is far from a final pre-order figure.

Historically, a large portion of game pre-orders can arrive closer to launch, and GTA 6 has an unusually large amount of attention surrounding it.

Rockstar also has more marketing activity ahead of release, giving the game additional opportunities to convert interest into pre-orders.

Sensor Tower’s September gaming analysis has also highlighted how GTA VI pre-order activity responded strongly to major marketing moments, including a substantial increase following the Netflix extended look.

GTA 6 is still more than a month away

The biggest part of this story may be what happens next.

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s official support page confirms those two launch platforms and the availability of Standard and Ultimate Editions.

With millions of pre-orders already estimated, the game still has weeks of marketing and additional pre-order activity ahead of it.

The current Sensor Tower estimate gives us another snapshot of the demand surrounding Rockstar’s next Grand Theft Auto game.

But until Take-Two publishes an official figure, the 5.66 million copies and $553 million should remain labelled as estimates.

What happens next for GTA 6 pre-orders?

The next major milestone could come as GTA 6 gets closer to launch and more players finally decide which edition they want.

For now, the latest Sensor Tower data paints a picture of a rapidly growing pre-order campaign:

5.66 million estimated copies.
$553 million estimated revenue.
77% PlayStation.
23% Xbox.

And GTA 6 hasn’t even launched yet.
