Other GTA 6 Weapons Confirmed Features
The following are other weapons-related features that have been confirmed or leaked for Grand Theft Auto VI:
- Physical Weapon Limits: Eliminates the infinite magic wheel inventory. The GTA 6 characters physically carry up to two handguns (concealed) and two long guns (visible).
- Vehicle Trunk Storage: Personal vehicles in GTA 6 and stolen cars act as mobile weapon inventories (similar to RDR2’s horse) to store extra firearms, equipment, and spare outfit changes.
- Combat Mechanics: Aiming relies on lightweight aim-assist instead of heavy auto lock-on.
- Ammu-Nation Weapon Lockers: Purchased/owned weapons are never permanently lost if discarded; they can be retrieved at any Ammu-Nation locker or personal vehicle. Unique regional weapons exist at specific Ammu-Nation branches.
- Non-Lethal Options & Suppression Fire:
- Players can aim to intimidate NPCs into fleeing, shoot weapons out of hands, or disarm enemies.
- Firing near targets (Suppression Fire) disorients and frightens police or civilians to facilitate non-lethal escapes.
- Shooting limbs (knees/arms) incapacitates enemies without killing them. Combat crosshairs show white for standard hits, yellow for incapacitation, and red for a kill.
- Focus Ability & Effects: Focus highlights points of interest, escape routes, and police locations. Acts similarly to Dead Eye by slowing down surroundings to aid aiming. Dramatic moments trigger cinematic slow-motion combat cameras.
- Drive-By capabilities: as a passenger, you can stand and shoot from outside the window, as well as from the bed of a truck. This allows using weapons such as Assault Rifles during drive-bys.
- You can shoot while swimming
- The game features an underfire animation (character trying to block gunfire) which adapts based on the weapons held, as well as another animation titled “overdose”.
- The weapon wheel has been redesigned and now allows switching between weapons and items using R1 / RB.
- Two healing items are confirmed: Zombix and an EpiPen. Zombix appears to restore health, with the game warning that its effectiveness can decrease if it is used too frequently.
- Dual-wielding is not returning from RDR2; players can use one weapon at a time.
- There is the ability to drop unwanted weapons, as well as dedicated animations when picking up weapons.
- You can switch hands when carrying or shooting a weapon, meaning you can decide to shoot with your left hand instead of your right hand.
- Some weapons and items are also referred to as “Shared”, possibly meaning there is both an individual and a Shared Inventory between the two protagonists
- Players can carry multiple loot bags (and store extra in car trunks) during robberies.
- There are also additional item slots for Painkillers, Health Kit, and Body Armor
- NPCs react if you walk around with your weapon drawn, prompting Jason or Lucia to automatically hide it when in populated areas.
GTA 6 Weapons: Frequently Asked Questions
How To Get Weapons in GTA 6?
In GTA 6, just like the rest of the Grand Theft Auto series, there will be various ways to get weapons:
- The majority of the weapons can be purchased through the various Ammu-Nation shops.
- Some weapons can be found scattered around the Leonida Map; this is mainly the case for melee weapons and basic guns.
- There will also certainly be some weapons that can be unlocked when completing certain GTA 6 story missions.
How many weapons can you carry at once in GTA 6?
Just like Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 6 will allow a limited number of weapons to be stored in the Weapon Wheel, instead of an infinite supply like in GTA V. You can physically carry up to two handguns (concealed) and two long guns (visible).
In GTA 6, weapons will appear for selection in an updated version of the Weapon Wheel, which will also feature the ability to switch between Weapons and Items, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2.
This means that GTA 6 will feature a more realistic weapon inventory by having your extra guns stored in your personal vehicle.
Will there be Weapon Customization in GTA 6?
Yes, absolutely. We can be certain that there will be weapon customization in GTA 6.
After being possible in Grand Theft Auto V, we can definitely expect the ability to upgrade GTA 6 weapons and guns with a wide range of modifications, such as magazines, attachments, tints, liveries, and special rounds.
Will there be First Person Shooting in GTA 6?
No, there will be no first-person shooting in GTA 6.
While all classic GTA games were exclusively third-person games, this changed when Rockstar released the PS4, Xbox One, and PC editions of Grand Theft Auto V, where they introduced a full-fledged first-person mode.
However, it has been reported that GTA 6 will not feature a first-person mode at launch.
