GTA 6 Online 32-Player Details Emerge From Rockstar Tribunal Case
Rockstar Games has kept details about GTA 6 Online extremely secretive, but a recent employment tribunal filing has offered a rare glimpse at something the studio was reportedly discussing during development.
According to documents submitted in an employment tribunal in Edinburgh, Rockstar employees discussed features for a confidential project, including an “online 32 player format.”
The detail does not confirm that GTA 6 Online will launch with 32 players. However, it suggests that a 32-player online format was being discussed internally and was considered highly confidential.
Rockstar Was Discussing 32-Player Online Support
The information emerged as part of a case involving 31 former Rockstar employees challenging their dismissals.
According to the filing, employees discussed confidential project information in a private Discord server. Among the details mentioned was an “online 32 player format.”
That immediately raises questions about GTA 6 Online and how large Rockstar’s next multiplayer experience could be.
However, it is important to separate what the document actually says from speculation.
The filing does not state that GTA 6 Online will definitely support 32 players at launch. It only indicates that an online format supporting 32 players was discussed.
That means Rockstar could have tested, planned or considered the feature without it necessarily making the final version of the game.
GTA 6 Online Is Still a Closely Guarded Secret
Rockstar reportedly described details about its games as some of the company’s most closely guarded secrets.
The studio compared protecting its game information to Apple protecting the iPhone and Coca-Cola protecting its famous formula.
Rockstar’s security measures are reportedly extensive.
Visitors are required to sign NDAs, contractors are escorted by security and remote working has been heavily restricted. External storage devices are also banned, while photography is reportedly prohibited inside the company’s facilities.
The studio has even reportedly employed investigators to monitor potential leaks.
This helps explain why information about GTA 6 Online has been so difficult to find.
What Could 32 Players Mean for GTA 6 Online?
If the 32-player format is still part of Rockstar’s plans, it could potentially provide a much larger multiplayer experience than some fans might expect.
GTA Online currently allows players to share large open-world sessions, but GTA 6 gives Rockstar the opportunity to redesign its multiplayer systems around a much newer generation of hardware.
A 32-player format could potentially support larger activities, businesses, events and roleplay experiences.
There is also growing speculation around Rockstar expanding the possibilities for player-created content in GTA 6 Online.
One former Rockstar developer has previously suggested that players could eventually have ways to create and potentially monetize their own roleplay stories.
That remains speculation, but combined with the newly revealed 32-player discussion, it gives fans plenty to think about.
Rockstar Isn’t Ready to Reveal GTA 6 Online Yet
Despite the growing number of rumours, Rockstar has revealed very little about the multiplayer side of GTA 6.
Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has previously reported that Rockstar does not currently appear ready to discuss GTA 6 Online in detail.
That means fans may still have a long wait before Rockstar officially explains how the mode will work.
For now, the 32-player reference is one of the more interesting pieces of information to emerge from official legal documents.
GTA 6 Has Already Suffered Major Leaks
Rockstar’s strict security measures come after several major GTA 6 leaks during development.
The biggest incident occurred in 2022, when gameplay footage from an early build of GTA 6 was leaked online after a hacker gained access to Rockstar’s internal systems.
The breach exposed a huge amount of unfinished gameplay and development footage.
Rockstar has since faced additional leaks, including alleged gameplay information and details that have appeared through various sources.
The studio has clearly taken those incidents seriously, making the appearance of a 32-player GTA 6 Online detail in a tribunal document particularly interesting.

32 Players Is Not Confirmed for GTA 6 Online
For now, fans should treat the 32-player figure as an unconfirmed development detail, rather than confirmation of GTA 6 Online’s final player count.
Rockstar could have experimented with different multiplayer configurations during development, and the final game could work differently.
Still, the reference gives us a rare look at the kind of online features Rockstar was discussing behind closed doors.
With GTA 6 currently scheduled for November 19, 2026, more information about GTA 6 Online will likely become one of the biggest topics surrounding Rockstar’s marketing campaign.
Until Rockstar officially reveals the mode, the 32-player figure remains an intriguing clue rather than a confirmed feature.
