GTA 6 Marketing Takes Off: Vice City Blimp in the Air

Rockstar’s real-world takeover of America continues — this time from the sky. Goodyear’s Wingfoot Three blimp (N3A) has officially taken flight wearing a full GTA 6 “Vice City” livery, and flight tracking shows it heading from Ohio toward North Carolina, with Florida possibly next on the itinerary.

The Vice City blimp is no longer a hangar curiosity. After first appearing inside its hangar and then being rolled out for the world to see, the airship has now taken to the skies in Grand Theft Auto VI colours, complete with the Vice City logo emblazoned on its hull.

First In-Flight Photos Emerge

The first photos of the blimp airborne were shared by Roger Durfee in the Goodyear Blimp Fan Club group on Facebook, giving fans their first look at the Vice City livery doing what it was built to do — floating majestically over the American landscape.

Flight tracking data picked up the Wingfoot Three making its way from Ohio toward North Carolina, sparking immediate speculation about its destination. Given the livery, the obvious guess is Florida — the real-world inspiration for GTA 6’s Leonida — where the blimp would become the ultimate flying billboard for the game’s November 19 launch.

From Hangar to Sky: The Blimp’s Journey So Far

The Vice City blimp has been on quite the journey. It first surfaced inside its hangar, still under wraps, before being rolled out into daylight — each stage documented and shared by eagle-eyed fans. Now, with the airship officially airborne, the rollout (pun intended) is complete.

It’s a classic Rockstar move: turn the marketing itself into an event. Rather than simply announcing a partnership, the slow reveal — hangar, rollout, first flight, cross-country journey — has given fans a weeks-long story to follow, with each new sighting generating its own wave of coverage.

Why a Blimp? It’s Pure Vice City

If any vehicle screams Vice City, it’s the blimp. The airships have been part of Miami’s identity for a century — Goodyear’s blimps are as much a Florida icon as the beaches themselves. And for GTA fans, there’s a deeper resonance: the Atomic Blimp was already a beloved oddity in GTA 5’s Los Santos, offering players slow, serene tours above the city.

A real-world Vice City blimp drifting over actual Florida skies would blur the line between the game and reality in exactly the way Rockstar loves. It’s the same instinct behind the Miami HEAT’s Vice City merchandise collaboration and the giant “Welcome to Vice City” installation on the roof of the Kaseya Center — Rockstar isn’t just marketing a game, it’s staging a cultural invasion.

Part of a Bigger Marketing Blitz

The blimp’s first flight lands in the middle of the busiest stretch of GTA 6’s pre-launch campaign. With the game launching on November 19, 2026 — just over five weeks away — and pre-loading opening on November 12, Rockstar is pulling every lever:

  • The Miami HEAT’s “A Night in Vice City” event at the Kaseya Center on November 18, one day before launch
  • The expanding Rockstar Store Vice City collections and creator merch packages
  • The Game Informer cover story revealing new details about Leonida’s weather, wildlife, and world design
  • Six radio stations and on-demand podcasts unveiled for the game’s soundtrack

The blimp fits perfectly into this pattern: larger-than-life, impossible to ignore, and deeply tied to the Vice City fantasy.

What’s Next: Florida Skies?

All eyes are now on the flight tracker. If the Wingfoot Three continues south toward Florida, expect the Vice City blimp to become a fixture over Miami in the weeks before launch — quite possibly the most photographed marketing stunt of the entire GTA 6 campaign.

For a game set in a sun-soaked, neon-drenched version of Florida, there’s no better herald than a blimp drifting over the real thing. Keep your eyes on the skies — and your cameras ready.
